Police appeal after spate of thefts in Northumberland
Police are appealing for witnesses after a spate of thefts in Amble and Rothbury in Northumberland.
Thieves struck at an address in Davis Drive in Amble between 2 February and 3 February. They entered the back garden and stole a Matika green drill, Yellow Dwalt radio, Black angle grinder from the shed.
On February 3, several crimes were reported; at 8am, a bicycle was stolen from the back garden of an address on Leslie Drive in Amble. The bicycle, a dark blue and white man's mountain bike with white rear mudguard, white front forks and 27.5 inch wheels.
Between 8am and 11.50am a burglary occurred at an address in Newburgh Street in Amble. An offender entered the rear garden and garden shed stole an extendable aluminium door ramp (extends from 5ft to 12ft) and a claw hammer.
Between 2.30pm and 3pm a bike and scrap metal were stolen from the back garden of an address on Burnside, Longhoughton.
Officers are also investigating the theft of a livestock trailer which was stolen from outside a house in Rothbury on 8 February 8. Thieves cut through a chain to steal the Ifor Williams, dropside utility trailer 6 feet x 4 feet, serial number 0702922, registration number BV66LKF. It is believed the trailer may have been seen being towed through Rothbury village towards Thropton that evening.
Police are appealing for witnesses to all these crimes and want to remind residents to keep property securely out of sight and make sure sheds are kept securely locked. Residents are asked to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activity and vehicles to police straightaway.
