David Moyes hopes Sunderland can equal their performance shown in their last game against Crystal Palace - in their upcoming fixture versus Southampton.

The Black Cats scored four first half goals to seal their first win of 2017. The three points earned at Selhurst Park putting them within touching distance of exiting the relegation zone in the Premier League.

Since Sunderland's emphatic win, Moyes feels his team has turned a corner and insists a repeat performance in their next game at the Stadium of Light is essential to survival.

Moyes feels Saturday's game against Southampton will come to soon for Jordan Pickford to make his return from injury. The goalkeeper is back in training following a knee injury but will not be risked against the Saints.

Moyes has Vito Mannone in between the sticks to deputise for Pickford who has kept two clean sheets in the previous two fixtures. The Scotsman feels Mannone fine form of late can only be good for the club and provide competition for places.

Sunderland will head to New York after their game against Southampton for some team bonding and help recharge their batteries. The former Everton manager will use the opportunity to also take in the sights of the east coast city to prepare them in their battle against relegation.
