North Shields have reached the final of the Northumberland Senior Cup final after beating Newcastle United u23's 10-9 on penalties.

Shields took the lead through Ryan Carr in the first half but an equaliser just after half time from Haris Vuckic ensured 30 additional minutes of extra time football would be played. The game was watched by 636 supporters in attendance at the Daren Persson Stadium. Once no breakthrough had been found in extra time the game had to be settled in penalties.

Gary Ormston scored the decisive spot kick to send the defending champions back to St. James Park for 2017's Northumberland Senior Cup final.

Shields await the winners of the other semi cup final between Blyth Town vs Blyth Spartans on 22 February to see who their cup final opponents will be.
