Rafa Benitez admits his side made too many mistakes which led to their 3-0 defeat against Oxford United.

The Magpies exited the FA Cup fourth round at the Kassam Stadium after making nine changes to their side. Newcastle conceded all three goals from set pieces with Oxford's final goal coming from their new signing Toni Martinez.

Benitez felt sorry for the fans who made the journey down to Oxford to witness Newcastle lose against their League One opponents.

Newcastle had multiple opportunities to draw level throughout the game, most of them falling to Aleksandr Mitrovic. The Serbian international who returned to the side after a knee injury missed a penalty which would've made the score 1-1 had he converted the spot kick.
