Sunderland sisters honoured on Holocaust Memorial Day
Two sisters from Sunderland who risked their lives to save refugees are being remembered today on Holocaust Memorial Day.
Ida and Louise Cook helped twenty-nine Jewish people flee Nazi Germany. A commemorative plaque was unveiled today at their childhood home on Croft Avenue in the city.
Their family say the sisters would have been 'surprised and humbled' by the honour. They were recognised nationally as 'British Heroes of the Holocaust' in 2010.
