David Moyes believes Sunderland were punished by three 'individual mistakes' as they lost 3-1 against Stoke City.

Moyes was left disappointed by his sides performance as the Black Cats conceded three goals in the opening 35 minutes.Jermain Defoe's 12th goal of the season proved to be a small consolation during a discouraging display at the Stadium of Light.

Moyes decided against making any substitutions in Sunderland's 15th league defeat of the season. The Scotsman felt he didn't have enough forward players on the bench to make a difference to the outcome of the game.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes was impressed by his sides response to his sides third round FA cup exit against Wolves. According to Hughes, Stoke gained confidence from Sunderland's current misfortunes which enabled them to gain their 2nd win versus Moyes' men this season.

Hughes praised Peter Crouch's performance who managed to get on the scoresheet in Stoke's 2nd win of 2017. The Potters manager has 'no doubts' regarding Crouch's ability who recently signed a new one year contract at the bet365 stadium.
