Police are appealing for information after a family home in County Durham was completely vandalised earlier this week.

It happened sometime after the morning of Tuesday January 10th, once the couple who live there and their three young children had left the house in Petterson Dale, Coxhoe.

When the husband returned around 2pm he discovered that someone had broken into the house through a rear door and thrown paint on numerous surfaces, poured shampoo and cleaning products over the walls and furniture and had also ransacked their way through cupboards and drawers.

Police did not believe burglary was the motive and could not explain why the family was targeted.

The intruders had even put bleach into the kettle, which police say could have proved extremely dangerous to anyone thinking of using it to make a hot drink.
