North East opera singer set for performance of a lifetime
A North East opera singer is preparing for the biggest performance of her life - in front of millions of people around the world.
Susan Robertson from Wynyard is to take on the role of Britannia in the New Year's Day parade in London this weekend, after she was spotted singing at a friends sons wedding.
She first performed when she was just 18-months-old, and went on to have classical training with professional opera singers in Newcastle.
Now, Susan is head of service at the Tees Valley Music Service but performs on a regular basis around the North East - and now further afield.
The New Year's Day parade is expected to attract more than half a million people watching on the route with over 500 million others likely to tune in to the TV coverage around the world.
Susan's husband Paul will be in the crowd to cheer her on.
