Sam Lavery realises Newcastle Arena dream

County Durham teenager Sam Lavery said her dreams came true when she stepped onto the Metro Radio Arena stage.

The X Factor contestant performed at the 10,000 capacity venue alongside chart-topping stars such as John Legend, Craig David, Olly Murs and Calum Scott for Christmas Live.

Sam spoke to Rachel Sweeney backstage and said she always dreamed of singing at the arena in Newcastle.

Thousands of fans were on their feet when Sam sang Mary J. Blige's No More Drama and Selena Gomez track Good For You.

The excitement for Sam didn't start on stage - it started behind the scenes when she bumped into one of the biggest stars in the world, John Legend.

Also on the bill was Olly Murs. As an artist who also competed on The X Factor, the Years and Years singer had some advice for Sam.

Olly, who has released his new album 24 Hrs, told us Newcastle is one of his favourite places to perform because the people are 'great, loud and fun!'
