Almost 50,000 cards help to make Bradley's Christmas wish come true
Almost fifty thousand cards have helped to make Bradley Lowery's Christmas wish come true.
The five-year-old from Blackhall in County Durham has neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer.
Last week his parents received the devastating news that his tumor had grown and further treatment would no longer be effective.
His Christmas wish is to receive as many cards as possible and people from not just the North East, but from all around the world responded.
At the region's biggest mail centre in Gateshead, they say he's getting more letters than Santa.
There is now a whole section of the sorting office designated for Bradley's mail, the volume of which is greater than some entire post code areas.
Today, on their busiest day of the year, staff have handled 28,000 items, as well as 75 parcels just for Bradley. It brings the total number to 48,000.
Bradley helped open the first few hundred cards and is being kept away from media interviews. But he did making a recording to share his delight.
