North East unemployment rate has fallen

In the latest figures released by the Office for National Statistics, the North East unemployment rate has fallen from 7.5% to 6.5%.

However, the figures also revealed that number of people claiming unemployment benefit in the North East has risen, with 52,300 over the age of 18 seeking unemployment benefit in November 2016.

6.5% of people over the age of 16 in the North East are unemployed.The North East still has the highest rate of unemployment in the country.The number of people seeking unemployment benefit in the North East stands at 4.1%.
