Campaigners fighting fracking at a site in North Yorkshire are protesting outside the High Court in London.

A hearing is taking place to decide if North Yorkshire County Council's decision to approve an application to extract shale gas was lawful.

Residents from Kirby Misperton and environmental organisation Friends of the Earth say the council hasn't factored the impact that fracking might have.

Jackie Cray from Kirkby Misperton says they do not feel that it is a safe industry.

North Yorkshire County Council says it is awaiting the High Court’s decision whether or not to grant a judicial review.

It says the planning committee gave proper regard to all material planning considerations before approving the application by Third Energy to undertake fracking for shale gas in the vicinity of Kirby Misperton.
