A group of seven Wensleydale Rugby Club players and supports are taking on a fundraising challenge that involves running 245 miles. They are hoping to achieve 'the longest try'.

Brian Carlisle, Jemma Gotts, Rachel Spensley, Neil Aitken and Scott Hunter are running from Layburn to Twickenham, in London, in a relay over six days.

Former Royal marine Commando Dave Piper will run the whole route.

The runners will emerge from the tunnel at half time during the England v Figi game, where Dave Piper will touch the ball down.

It's hoped this stunt will raise £50,000 for the Great North Air Ambulance and help towards the club's redevelopment.

To show their support, 30 senior squad members will row the 245 mile distance on rowing machines, and junior members will run it in a relay around the pitches at Wensleydale Rugby Club.
