A street entertainer who had his beloved puzzle thrown into the River Wear in Durham a few weeks ago has been reunited with it.

Alfred Hill, the street entertainer and children's magician, had some of his magic tricks thrown into the water by a drunken man.

Over the weekend Michael Lambert and his son Jonathan Lambert, along with their friend Robert Chappel from Esh Winning went down into Durham to look for Alf's horse shoes and found them.

The horseshoe was undamaged and was found using a magnet fishing rod.

A man has come forward and identified himself as the person responsible for throwing the item into the river, and police will be speaking to him on a formal basis in the next couple of days.
