Metro tickets set for fare increase next year
Nexus, who run Tyne and Wear Metro, have announced plans to increase fares next year.
Day and annual tickets will be affected by the price rise.
Proposals have been by council officers to increase fares by 10p or 20p on day tickets with annual savers advised to go up by £50 to £625 by next year.
Children fares will remain at 80p and £1.20 for single and all day tickets respectively.
NECA (The North East Combined Authority) will consider the proposals.
If the proposed rise in fares are successful, fare changes will come into force on January 2.
