Murder investigation launched after woman stabbed in Newcastle
A murder investigation has been launched after a woman died after being stabbed in Newcastle, while a man is fighting for his life in hospital.
Police were called out to Stanhope Street in the Arthurs Hill area of the city at 3:50pm on Monday 17th October, after reports of an assault. A 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were taken to hospital with puncture wounds. The woman later died of her injuries, while the man remains in a critical condition.
Three men, aged 22, 25 and 25, have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in police custody.
Officers remain at the scene this evening and a section of Stanhope Road is closed off to allow for enquiries to be carried out.
Extra patrols are being carried out in the local area to reassure residents and identify potential witnesses.
