Sam Lavery has thanked fans for voting her through in the first week of live shows on the X Factor. The 17 year old from Coxhoe in County Durham performed Impossible by 2012 winner James Arthur, who the teenager described as 'her idol'.

The judges were full of praise for Sam after her performance, Louis Walsh said, 'it's hard to believe you are only 17, you came out like a star'. Nicole Scherzinger told her, 'You're like a princess warrior' and Sharon Osborne asked, 'where did that voice come from? Amazing, well done.'

Simon Cowell described Sam Lavery as, 'An artist with massive potential'. She is now concentrating on rehearsals for week two of the live shows.
