Stephen Miller leaves the North East for Rio
Paralympic athlete Stephen Miller MBE, from Cramlington, is on his way to Rio to compete in the games. He told ITV News Tyne Tees he has trained hard and is ready to 'get out there and win a medal'.
Stephen, who says he is very competitive, left Newcastle International Airport with his wife this morning.
He'll head to London before travelling to Rio where he hopes for Paralympic success.
Stephen Miller was born with cerebral palsy, he is a three-time champion and is one of the most decorated para-athletes of all time.
The Olympics has made Stephen even more determined and he says, after watching his Team GB colleagues, he is ready to bring home a medal.
The 36-year-old will compete on September 13th in the Club Throw event. This will be his sixth consecutive games.
