A banner which was put up to greet Olympic hero Amy Tinkler when shereturned home from Rio has been taken by thieves.

The banner, which was nailed on to the fence, was taken down in thegymnast's home town of Bishop Auckland, County Durham.

Amy - who is the youngest member of Team GB at 16 - won bronze at the Rio Games.

The banner was put up at the entrance to her estate by her gymnastics club, following the conclusion of the competition.

The club have said if it has been taken as a souvenir and is returned, theycan arrange for it to be signed by Amy and handed back.
