Hundreds attend rally to support Jeremy Corbyn in Newcastle
A rally to support Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is being held in Newcastle.
Hundreds of people have gathered in the city centre to call upon the labour parliamentary party to accept what they Corbyn's 'democratic mandate'. Information from the event facebook page says they want to 'protest against the co-ordinated attacks in the press.'
An election for the leadership of the Labour party will conclude at a conference on September 24th. Jeremy Corbyn faces a challenge from Pontypridd MP Owen Smith.
The rally was called by Red Labour, and is supported by The Durham Miners' Association, People's Assembly, Momentum Northern, Newcastle Unites and Stop the War.
Gateshead MP Ian Mearns was at the gathering.
