Northumbria Police issue safety warning over Pokémon Go game
Northumbria Police have issued safety advice as Pokémon Go becomes available to gamers in the North East.
Officers from the force's Cyber Crime Unit are urging gamers to enjoy the new app safely - and be aware of the data they are potentially sharing with others.
Official advice from the police
Be sure to download the official app and make sure you use different passwords containing a combination of letters, numbers and symbols.
Please be careful not to compromise any personal information. It can be so easy for opportunist cyber criminals to access personal data which could lead to fraud or even allow them to hack your phone with viruses and malware.
Bbe vigilant when it comes to identifying your whereabouts through GPS. This could make your home an easy target for burglars.
Be aware of your personal safety when out looking for Pokémon
Watch where you are walking, be aware of your surroundings and don't walk out into roads without looking.”
Even Newcastle Library are getting in on the act!
