Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce set for England talks
Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce is set to be interviewed for the England job this week according to reports.
The Guardian says Allardyce, who is in Austria on a pre‑season tour with Sunderland, has been invited to meet with the FA, who are also said to be keen on Jurgen Klinsmann.
Allardyce has been identified as the best option of the available Englishmen.
He managed to keep Sunderland in the Premier League last season and was recently backed for the vacant national role by Sir Alex Ferguson.
The 61-year-old was interviewed for the England job in 2006 when he was in charge of Bolton Wanderers in 2006 but the FA opted for Steve McClaren.
