River search for missing man continues in York

Police and rescue services are continuing their efforts to locate and identify a man in York who was seen falling from the Ouse Bridge.

Witnesses raised the alarm at around 3.15am on Sunday after seeing the man fall into the River Ouse.

Search teams from York Rescue Boat and underwater divers are scouring a stretch of the river between the Ouse Bridge and the Skeldergate Bridge.

Inspector Mark Henderson, Force Incident Manager at North Yorkshire Police, said:

The man is described as being in his late teens or early 20s, with short dark hair and was wearing a red t-shirt and blue jeans.

Police are appealing for anyone who may be able to identify the man to contact them on 101 and quote reference NYP-10072016-0098.
