Nick Dunn's family give petition to Downing Street
The family of a Northumberland man being held in India on alleged weapons offences have given a petition to Downing Street demanding more help to secure his release from prison.
Nick Dunn, from Ashington, is one of six British men that were detained in October 2013. Mr Dunn, along with Nicholas Simpson from Catterick and Paul Towers from near York, were working for a US firm providing security from pirates for merchant ships. The Indian authorities claim they didn't have the proper documents for the weapons they had on board.
All six men stood trial in January 2016 and were found guilty and jailed for five years.
Lisa Dunn, the sister of Nick Dunn, along with other families have handed in a petition to Downing Street with more than 370,000 signatures calling for more to be done fighting for their release.
The families have lodged an appeal against their conviction and are waiting to find out if the men can be released on bail until a re-trial is arranged.
