EU Referendum: Farage 'happy' with North East results so far

UKIP leader and Leave campaigner Nigel Farage said he was pleased with the way the North East has voted so far in the EU Referendum.

At the time he tweeted, seven of the 12 authorities in the region had declared - with Newcastle the only one to remain and even then by a slight majority.

After the Sunderland declaration, Farage said he thought Remain might "nick" the result but said Leave would still "win overall."
