Police in charity abseil at Hexham Abbey

Officers from Northumbria Police have taken part in a charity abseil at Hexham Abbey.

Neighbourhood officers from West Tynedale took up the challenge to raise cash in aid of the Northumberland Domestic Abuse Service (NDAS) and the Abbey itself.

Inspector Kevin Oates, together with PCs Zoe Dixon and Yvonne Clement took the plunge on June 18 along with scores of other fund-raising volunteers.

The Abbey is also raising funds to replace much of the roof of Hexham Abbey, and aims to raise £1m, following an inspection last winter.
