North Yorkshire PC Simon Ryan committed gross misconduct by wearing 'I love weed hat' panel rules

A North Yorkshire police officer committed gross misconduct by wearing a woolly hat with 'I love weed on' a disciplinary hearing has ruled.

Pc Simon Ryan also defaced a suspect's CV with words to the effect of "paedo" during an investigation into allegations of child abuse.

PC Ryan had denied gross misconduct but the hearing, at North Yorkshire Police's headquarters, ruled otherwise.

The hearing heard Pc Ryan had apologised, claiming his "puerile" behaviour was intended to "leaven" the mood of colleagues.
