A mother from County Durham has launched a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of cold water shock after her 14-year-old son died in the River Wear last summer.

Fiona Gosling says she wishes she had known more about the the risks. In memory of Cameron she's now working with the Safe Durham Partnership to persuade teenagers not to expose themselves to danger when playing near rivers and lakes.

Cameron Gosling died from cold water shock last July when he jumped into the river wear.

In the sweltering heat his body couldn't cope with suddenly being immersed in the cold water without acclimatising.

His mother Fiona - has now teamed up with the Safe Durham Partnership to warn teenagers to be careful when playing in rivers and lakes.

They launched this video on Facebook and its already been viewed more than 89 thousand times.
