The owner of Durham Tees Valley Airport has submitted plans for 350 homes just north of the terminal.

The Peel Group also wants to build shops, offices and leisure facilities on the land. A spokesman says the proposed development is part of their Master-pan to secure the long-term future of the airport.

The Peel Group acquired a majority shareholding in Durham Tees ValleyAirport in 2003 and since that time has invested over £34 million in operatingand capital costs.
