Sheep shot with high-power rifle in North Yorkshire

A police investigation is underway after a sheep was shot with a high-power rifle in Rydale, North Yorkshire.

The offenders entered land off Malton Road at Marton, near Sinnington between 10pm on May 16 and 5am on May 17. They caused extensive damage to hedges, crops and a gate before shooting a sheep.

The sheep was left suffering in great distress, before it was found by the owners several hours later. The animal's injures were so severe it had to be euthanised.

Officers from North Yorkshire Police's Rural Taskforce are investigating the incident and are appealing for any witnesses to contact 101.
