Indian restaurant owner goes on trial after customer's death
An Indian restaurant owner is going on trial today accused of the manslaughter of a customer who suffered a fatal allergic reaction to peanuts after eating a takeaway curry.
Mohammed Khalique Zaman, 53, owner of the Indian Garden, in Easingwold, North Yorkshire, was charged following the death of Paul Wilson, 38, who suffered a severe anaphylactic shock at his home in Helperby, near Thirsk, in January 2014.
Zaman, from Huntington, York, denies manslaughter by gross negligence and is on trial at Teesside Crown Court.
