Homeless Barry taken in by smallholder
A runaway pig that took up residence at a care home in County Durham has now been taken in by a local smallholder.
Barry the pig - originally named Elizabeth before his true gender was discovered - spent a pampered weekend at Bishopsgate Lodge Care Home after turning up there on Friday afternoon.
Staff made him a makeshift shelter, and even treated him to a Sunday lunch.
However it was considered impractical for Barry to stay at the care home, and he has now been taken in by a local smallholder who wishes to remain anonymous.
His new host has said they would like to hear from Barry's original owner, but are happy to keep him indefinitely if nobody comes forward.
It is suspected that Barry was dumped at the care home by owners who were unable to look after him.
