Charity match for Paul Van-Zandvliet
This week reported the story of Paul Van-Zandvliet, the former Newcastle Falcons rugby player who's been told he has 18 months to live, after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Tonight (April 22) former teammates from the Falcons Premiership-title winning side of 1998 will take part in a benefit match for Paul's family, and a number of charities.
The crowd at Kingston Park will include Jonny Wilkinson and Rob Andrew
They're all here to support one former teammate - Paul van Zandvlied, after his diagnosis with cancer.
He was nicknamed 'Tank' during his playing days
Paul van Zandvlied the hard-man prop who appeared 160 times for the Newcastle Falcons and became an integral part of their 1998 Premiership-title winning side
He's now 49 - and long retired from rugby. A father of five - his youngest Hope just 9 years old.
In February, Paul was diagnosed with cancer of the brain, kidneys and liver. Doctors have told him he has 18 months to live.
But Paul has set his sights on raising funds for his children, and for charity - with the North East's rugby community by his side.
