Non-league player's stunning scissor kick inspires internet adoration
Warren Byrne, a County Durham factory worker, has become an unlikely internet star after this video of him scoring an impressive volley last weekend went viral.
Byrne, who spends his day job refurbishing industrial tools at a firm in Shildon, County Durham, was playing for Northern League Division Two's South Shields FC against Tow Law Town when he scored the goal, which helped the Mariners to a 3-0 victory.
The video was uploaded by Daniel Prince, the club's press officer, and now has more than 1,500,000 views across various social networks.
The scissor kick has also won Warren a 'Regional Goal of the Month' award. Perhaps this shouldn't come as a surprise - he is the club's top goalscorer.
