Child autism diagnoses not early enough say families and academics
Families and academics say children are not being diagnosed with autism early enough.
Experts at Newcastle University conducted the biggest study of its kind over the past decade, monitoring thousands of children.
They found that there had been no significant improvement to diagnosis length over the past ten years. Boys tended to be diagnosed earlier than girls but it often took 5 years, especially if early warning signs aren't picked up.
