Staff at Beamish Museum say they are overjoyed to have received an "amazing" £500,000 grant from the Garfield Weston Foundation.
The funding is for the Remaking Beamish project, which includes plans to build a 1950s Town and a Georgian coaching inn where visitors can stay overnight.
