McClaren 'won't quit' as Newcastle boss

Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren says he won't quit his role as Head Coach at the club.

The Magpies lost 3-1 to Bournemouth at St James' Park on Saturday, leaving them in the Premier League relegation zone and further increasing the pressure on McClaren.

Speaking after the match, McClaren was asked if he would consider quitting the club. He said:

The Head Coach was also asked if the club's board still believe he's the right manager for Newcastle. He said:

Newcastle are now one point from safety in the table after their North East rivals Sunderland earned a 1-1 draw at Southampton.

But with Swansea climbing further away from the relegation zone after a 1-0 win over Norwich, it looks increasingly likely that three teams from Aston Villa, Newcastle, Norwich or Sunderland will be playing in the Championship next season. McClaren also shared that view. He said:

Newcastle's next match is a testing away trip to Premier League leaders Leicester City on March 14.
