A man has died after the car he was in crashed in County Durham.

22-year-old Shane Dowson was a rear passenger in a Vauxhall Vectra which was travelling on the B6299 from Tow Law to Sunniside.

It left the roadside and crashed at 6.30pm on Sunday February 28.

Mr Dowson, who lived in North Bitchburn, near Crook, was confirmed dead at the scene.
