Flood risk reduced around River Tees

The operation has reduced the risk of flooding

The Environment Agency says there is now a reduced risk of flooding around the River Tees after they moved fallen trees and debris from the river.

It had built up against the road and railway bridge north of Yarm.

The large pile of debris was winched from the River Tees and stacked at the riverside before being cut up with a chainsaw and removed.

The Environment Agency Operations teams have carried out similar work over recent weeks at the historic Elvet Bridge in Durham, Mitford dam in Morpeth, Lustrum Beck in Stockton, Spring Gardens dam in West Auckland and Leven Bridge in Stockton.
