A union representing defence workers is to hold a special conference so that the "voice of working people" can be given on the future of the Trident nuclear missile system.

Members of the GMB from areas including Barrow, Devonport, Faslane, Coulport, Rosyth and Merseyside will meet on February 25 in Newcastle.

The union's policy is in favour of Trident renewal, arguing that tens of thousands of jobs depend on the programme.

Labour has launched a review of its policy on Trident.
