Newcastle to Carlisle rail line to re-open after landslide
The massive landslip which caused part of the Newcastle to Carlisle rail line to close for the last month, has finally been cleared. The line will re-open fully on Monday.
The landslide, in early January, was caused by heavy rain. 35 thousand tonnes of rubble and debris has had to be cleared from the site near Corbridge.
Replacement buses have been operating between Prudhoe and Hexham since then. Network Rail says there's been a huge rebuilding job.
