Newcastle youngster Gilliead pens new deal
Newcastle United have announced that teenage forward Alex Gilliead has signed a new deal with the club.
The 19-year-old, who is currently on loan at League Two side Carlisle United, has put pen to paper on a new two-and-a-half-year contract. The deal will keep him at St James' Park until at least June 2018, with the option of a further year.
Gilliead, from Shotley Bridge in County Durham, said:
Gilliead has scored three goals in 20 appearances for Carlisle United this season. He is yet to make his first-team debut for Newcastle.
