Sunderland keeper Jordan Pickford has signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2020.

The highly-rated 21-year-old goalkeeper put pen to paper on a new four-year deal in June 2014, but the academy graduate has now committed himself for a further two years after manager Sam Allardyce moved to tie up his future.

Pickford has been named as one of England’s hottest young goalkeeping prospects.

The England Under-21 international made his first team debut for Sunderland earlier this season in Emirates FA Cup against Arsenal and has also made one Premier League start to date, against Tottenham Hotspur.

Pickford joined the Black Cats as an eight-year old in 2002 then signed a two-year scholarship in 2010.

He went on to become a key member of the club’s Under 21 side and has continued his development with loan spells at Darlington FC, Alfreton Town FC, Burton Albion FC, Carlisle United FC and Preston North End.
