Durham Light Infantry Museum to close in April
The Durham Light Infantry Museum in Durham will close on the 1st of April despite protests.
People gathered outside County Hall this morning before a council meeting. The protestors said they were angry the decision to close it hadn't been put out to public consultation.
They said the decision to shut the museum means those who risked their lives could be forgotten.
90 year old Norah from Seaham was in the royal artillery and shot down aircraft in world war two. Her family were in the DLI and she says those who lost their lives in war must be remembered.
Durham County Council said visitor numbers are too small to maintain. 39,000 people visit the museum a year.
The artefacts inside will be placed nearer to the cathedral and the museum will close in April.
