'Great North Plan': Business leaders to discuss how to boost economic growth in the region

More than a hundred of business leaders are meeting in Yorkshire to discuss a plan for economic growth in the North.

There will also be a debate on a new infrastructure plan for the Northern Powerhouse at the summit in Leeds today, January 14.

Former deputy prime minister Lord Heseltine will reveal his plans for the region. His No Stone Unturned report three years ago set out how to create a genuine Northern Powerhouse, but was only partially implemented by the Government.

The summit is being hosted by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) and the Royal Town Planning Institute to present the initial findings from their 'Great North Plan' consultation to support growth.

Over 200 business and public policy leaders attended events in Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, Manchester, and Hull between June and September to discuss a strategy for the North and how it should be delivered.
