'We used to have some great giggles', Pam Royle writes about working with Kathy Secker
I started at Tyne Tees when Kathy was a continuity announcer; she had a fabulously friendly smile that made you feel immediately at home.
I was the weather presenter and I was asked to do continuity announcing from time to time.
Kathy was very welcoming to me and we used to have some great giggles working out our slots together.
We would go through the Birthday cards and 'What's On' posters deciding who would include what, when and how we would make each slot that little bit different or quirky whenever we could.
Kathy was glamorous, vivacious and had tremendous presence. She always had the most fabulous clothes and wore them so well. Only to be expected, she was a former model!
We both found fun in our love of clothes and this was carried through to one of the programmes we were involved in. It was called "Christmas Past" filmed at Beamish museum. Most of the Presenters at the time were taking part.
We all had to dress in Edwardian costume and I remember Kathy and I having wig fittings and costume fittings in our makeup and wardrobe departments and thoroughly enjoying the dressing up and watching our respective transformations as we became the characters in the show. They were great times.
My lasting memory of Kathy is her warm beaming smile and beautifully twinkly eyes.
