A disabled pensioner whose attack inspired an online fundraising campaign is to move into a new home in his native Gateshead.
Alan Barnes, who has suffered from height and growth problems since birth, was mugged in January while putting his rubbish out. He had planned to move to the Shetland Islands after having a "calling from God".
The 68-year-old says his plans have fallen through because God was justtesting him and now he is looking forward to getting settled into a new home in Low Fell where he grew up.
Alan bought his current home with £330,000 of donations fromwell-wishers after single mum Katie Cutler set up an online fund to helphim after the attack.
However Alan says he never settled into the house and can't wait to moveinto his new home which he has bought for £115,000.
