Gateshead Millennium Bridge celebrates 15 years on the Tyne
The Gateshead Millennium Bridge will be putting on a stunning light display tonight to mark 15 years as part of the Tyneside riverscape.
From dusk, the 22 metre high hoop of the bridge will be lit using every colour in the visible spectrum.
There will be washes of colour sweeping from one side of the bridge to the other, technicolor stripes, rainbow effects and much much more.
The bridge's eight computer-controlled light cannons are capable of projecting an unlimited variation of colour onto its massive hoop.
Normally it is all very carefully controlled but tonight Gateshead Council says it is giving it the night off so it can really show what it can do.
The light show will last from dusk until midnight.
