Duncan Watmore comes off bench to inspire England Under-21s to victory
Duncan Watmore has been praised for the impact he made after coming off the substitutes' bench to inspire England Under-21s to a 3-1 Euro 2017 qualification victory over Switzerland.
Switzerland's goal late in the first half from Shani Tarashaj looked likely to secure victory until the Sunderland forward spurred on England's comeback by winning the penalty from which James Ward-Prowse equalised, scoring the goal that gave them the lead.
Watmore then went on to set up Chuba Akpom for their third to leave England with 10 points from their opening four games.
21-year-old Watmore has made three senior appearances for Sunderland since joining the club in 2013.
England Under-21s have gone three points clear in first place of Group 9 in their bid to qualify for the 2017 European Championship.
