Kirkleatham Museum has been closed to members of the public following masonry falling from the Old Hall building due to high winds.

Kirkleatham Museum has been closed to members of the public following masonry falling from the Old Hall building due to high winds.

The precautionary closure will remain in place whilst inspections and remedial works are undertaken this weekend.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have said, "the extent of the damage to the 300 year-old building is thought to be very limited and it is hoped the museum will reopen to the public next week".

The car park, play area and café at Kirkleatham remain unaffected and are open as usual.
